Another Tooth Comes Out!

I can't believe but the front tooth that has been loose for a couple months now, (but just stayed that way because Aidan was too afraid of pain to wiggle it), finally came out today.  I looked at his mouth and saw that the tooth was a little crooked so I asked if I could see how wiggly it was, and of course Aidan clenched his mouth, knowing exactly what I wanted to do.  You see, I am a picker, wiggler, etc. and am physically unable to leave something alone that needs taking care of.  As a child I couldn't leave a tooth alone until it came out, it didn't matter how much it hurt, I could deal with the pain for the ultimate outcome of a tooth for the tooth fairy!  Aidan kept saying that he wanted to do it and so I was letting him, but he couldn't because he said he was scared.  I asked what he was scared of and he said that he was scared that it was going to hurt.  Finally after blood was starting to show around the gum I asked if I could look one more time and all it took was a little push and POP, out came the tooth! At dinner tonight he said, "Mommy how am I going to eat my dinner with only one tooth?"  I told him that he had a lot more teeth to chew with and not to worry about it too much. He was so excited and said he couldn't wait to show his friends.  As soon as we got to church he ran over to Garrett Hixson and opened his mouth to show the excitement and thrill of the tooth that was no more, it was really cute seeing the smile and joy on his face.

Right before the tooth came out!

After much fear, it's out!

Is That a Light at the End of the Tunnel?

I don't want to jinx anything but I am too excited not to celebrate something.  In two days it will have been one month since I started potty training Ethan, and if going off of how long it took me to train Aidan I am half way there.  Ethan hasn't had an accident in his pants in two whole days, and he has gone "big poo poo" in the potty three times.  To some people this may be a simple feet but to a mom who has potty trained two and is hopefully soon to be done with diapers in her house this is MAJOR!  So as a desperate potty training mother, who will resort to just about anything to get the end result accomplished, I bribed; and oh how I bribed.  I told Ethan that I would by him any toy if he was a big boy and went big poo poo in the potty and not his pants.  And oh to my surprise, the bribing finally worked!  We went to Target last night to pick out his special toy for being a big boy, a toy airplane!  He LOVES it and can't stop playing with it.  So here's to keeping this ball rolling and here's keeping my fingers crossed that this IS the light at the end of the tunnel that I'm hoping for.  Go Ethan, in the potty of course!

Picking the Perfect Pumpkin

Picking the perfect pumpkin can be difficult with all the choices that there are at the pumpkin patch, but we were up for the challenge! I informed the kids on the ride out to the Bear Creek Pumpkin Patch, which we visit annually, that Mommy was going to be taking lots of pictures and that they needed to be good and smile.  I told them this was because Mommy loved pictures of them so that when they were old and mommies and daddies someday I could look back and remember when they were little.  This must have worked because they were wonderful!  We looked at all the wonderful pumpkins and around at the wild flowers, we even spotted a butterfly perched on a sunflower.  Then there was the indian tee-pee and the indian corn and cool gords.  And what trip to the pumpkin patch would be complete without the perfect family shot, which as the kids are getting older is getting much easier to accomplish.  Everyone got their pumpkin, perfect for them, you have to be able to carry your own pumpkin (that's the rules).  Aidan wanted to pick everyone's pumpkin for them, he was so concerned with what would be best for Ethan and Mikyla; plus he had to climb to the top and back of the pile to get them.  Mikyla on the other hand just wanted me to take her picture in different locations, totally into it, which hasn't been her mantra in the past.  And Ethan was only concerned with the Red Rider wagon we had to put the pumpkins in and being in charge of pulling it, (or sitting in it).  All in all a great morning with my lovely munchkins and hubby!

Day At The Lake 2011

Of all the weekends for child to get sick, this was not the one that I wanted!  Ethan is sick with a stomach/digestion bug, and that means that Mommy doesn't get to experience any of the fun of Day At The Lake for church.  But no reason to stop the rest of our familie's fun, so off they went after church for bounce house, tug-of-war, and talent show fun!

By the time that I arrived, (after Grammy came over to stay with Ethan),the talent show had begun and Mikyla was covered in dirt.  Come to find out she basically made it her job to play in the volleyball pit as if it were the beach, I can only imagine what lovely things were in her "beach sand"!  I had to roll with the punches and finish my visiting with a beautiful sunset and some gourmet smores that included raspberry preserves, YUM!  I was informed in my visiting by Sarah Allan that my daughter, "consumed a large amount of candy".  She told me that she opened a few pieces for her but when Mikyla started bringing them over to her in a slobbery, sticky mess, (that is Mikyla, and the candy), she decided it would be best to, "cut her off"!  I told her that was a good idea, Mikyla likes to over indulge sometimes and her tummy pays for it later.

It was home and baths for us after that and as I was laying Aidan down and saying prayers with him he felt the need to inform me of some pivital information.  "Mommy", he said, "I hate to break it to you, but I got diarhea today".  "How many times?", I asked.  "Oh, just twice, but don't worry I washed my chonnies out in the sink, I thought it was best to do that."  I can only imagine my butt naked son in the public bathrooms at the lake washing his chonnies in the sink and then to top it off continueing to play all afternoon with soaked underpants.  Too funny!  Not to worry after a couple more trips that night to the bathroom an a dose of children's immodium he was good as new, it took Ethan a couple more days to say the same!

Father's Know Best When It Comes To Camping

Brian Ferguson and Aaron had this splendid idea to have a father child camping trip, and what a perfect weekend for it to happen, when I was gone scrapbooking, September 16, 2011.  So Aaron packed up his parents trailer, oh so roughing it, and off he went with Mikyla and Aidan, (Ethan had to stay with Grammy and Papa).  They were going up to Bagby which is right by Lake McClure, and had a beautiful campsite right by the lake.  Oh the time they all had, and mind you this all occurred in one night, I can't imagine what would have happened if they had a whole weekend!

The great Tee-Pee
Russell Hawkins took charge of the little munchkins while everyone set up camp.  Leave it to Russell's engineering mind to have them constructing a tee-pee; and not just some little ho-hum but a full scale tee-pee with mud on the joints and rope at the top.  He is so good with the kids and lets them climb all over him.  They also erected a see-saw out of logs that was too fun to see how many kids could get on it and have it still work.

Colton's ghost stories!
Later there was campfire, hot dogs and of course SMORES!  Jake Jones had his guitar and all the little girls encircled him with the serenading voices of Taylor Swift songs. Then Colton Hixson found a flashlight, what better tool to tell scary ghost stories with, and Aidan was eating it up!  Colton was later heard asking, "Do you think this is how much fun Heaven is going to be?"  After dancing and running off all that sugar Mikyla and Aidan were found in Dustin Smith's trailer watching movies before bed.  Too much fun for just one night, next year I'm sure that it will have to be extended to two!!

Soccer Here We Come!

Soccer, oh soccer, what as game!  Fast moving and thrill filled, let's see if Aidan has more luck with it this year!  I missed his first game since I was out of town, but daddy took charge and got everything done and was very successful in my absence. I will have to say Aidan loves practice and everything that comes with it, running around with his friends and having fun.  But when it is time for games he says that he doesn't like that you can't touch the ball, dribbling the ball with your feet is difficult and I think he prefers dribbling with his hands, as in basketball.  He says that he can't wait for basketball to start, but here's to enjoying the rest of the season with his team.  I have to admit he is trying so hard and really beginning to get into the game, and he looks so cute in his uniform...but that's just Mommy's point of view!

Labor Day at the Cabin 2011

We were invited up to the cabin once again to celebrate Labor Day with Uncle Matt, Aunty Brooke and our cousins and boy was everyone excited!  Aidan told all of his friends at school that he was going to the snow, this was because we haven't been up there since Thanksgiving I'm sure; and what was up there but SNOW! I tried to tell him it was summer and you can't have snow when it is 90 degrees.

We got up there Friday night and basically just ran around crazy, to fun with cousins and three floors to explore.  Early Saturday morning Aidan got to go out fishing with Daddy and Uncle Matt, he was very excited.  The excitement didn't last long because Aidan didn't realize that you had to wait so long and then not even catch a fish.  We then got our swim suits on after breakfast and piled into the boat and found some shoreline to picnic and play.  And boy there was so much shoreline to choose from since they are emptying Shaver Lake out to do some dam repair.  It was fun in the sun and the little yellow raft that Uncle Matt had brought. Then after naps the daddies took Mikyla, Aidan, and Caleb fishing.  Who caught the fish, Mikyla.  Why, because she was the only one with enough patience to sit down and wait for the fish to bite.  But after the fish was reeled in Mikyla ran away from it scared and wouldn't hold it for the camera.  Then with Daddy's suggestion a big stick was found and the fish was continuously torchered, and each time it jumped the three kids jumped with a scream!  Then it was time for movie night and popcorn, Tangled was on the movie bill.

We ended the weekend on Sunday night and SMORES then after all that sugar what could be more fun than a big game of Simon Says that Aunty Brooke even got into, which was so fun.  And I have to say that the winning command that became everyone's favorite was "Get ME" and then the dog pile followed!  And then we naturally flowed into a group dance party with music from the 90's  and Aidan was the winner of the most enthusiastic dancer with his robot jive and rolling around on the floor, I NEVER get tired of watching him dance!
